Relationship building both personal and within the family is one of the most important goals for RiverView Academy. Working together the students, parents, therapist, and staff focus on building strong relationships.

Students have regular meetings and personal conferences to discuss personal and family related issues. Parents speak to the staff and their child regularly. Emails and letters can be sent and received at all times. Therapy is highly encouraged. RiverView works very closely with a licensed therapist, who also communicates with parents.
 

Empowering Teens through Structure and Real Life Situations

At the heart of the philosophy of RiverView Academy is the goal of empowering teens, which means creating and supporting conditions under which young people do not just comply with rules be also create a shift in their thinking in order to create greater self-worth. Within the structured environment lay situations that mirror real life. The program provides a multitude of opportunities that support the teen in self-discovery work.

The teens have many opportunities to interact with members of the community. They can participate in 12 step meetings, shop at local stores, participate in local community service projects and other activities. This allows the teens to practice and reflect on their behavior and thoughts when they are in various social situations within a healthy structure that RiverView Academy routinely provides.

 

Empowering Teens through Integrity and Trust

The program is based on levels of trust. As the teens achieve higher levels, they earn more responsibility and privileges. Achieving higher levels also allows the young person to take on more leadership, which reveals their level of integrity and confidence. The goal is to create value in doing what needs to be done even when no one is looking. By tying the privileges to degrees of trust, non-working choices have consequences as well. RiverView Academy is dedicated to creating as much as possible natural consequences based on real life situations.
 

 

 

Empowering Teens through Specialized and Accredited Education

The academic success of each student is a critical goal for RiverView Academy. This is accomplished by working closely with a local accredited public school. This unique school district has many years experience working with at-risk teens and has formed a partnership with RiverView in order to provide the maximum benefit to the teens. There are a variety of ways the students can achieve academic mastery. The teens are monitored in order to support them in their achievements.
